family pictures
so we had family pictures last week. i spent all week running from store to store trying to find the perfect outfits, with the perfect colors trying to coordinate everyone making sure we had bows, tights, pants, shoes and so forth. anyway friday came and everyone looked great. the girls behaved well and we hopefully got some good pictures. but after the pictures we came home and i looked in the mirror to find my dress on backwards. i mean seriously. after all that. the good thing is that the back and the front do look identical except for a seam down the middle. but really, after all that stress. which leads me to, why are family pictures such a stressful thing. is it just me??

No, Jenni, it is not just you. I remember those days....by the time we walked out the door I was ready to pull everybody's hair out......and then, you are supposed to go pose, smile and pretend to be one great big happy family! Those are fun times!
I'm too scared to even attempt family pictures...I'm sure it's not just you.
yanno, at some point i typically mention to the mom "hey, i know it's a ton of work to do this and that the burden of preparation generally falls on the mom - we'll work hard to make these extra great and worth all the trouble!"...i want moms to know i KNOW it's a ton of work! to be honest, i'm surprised family photos GET taken :) but as much as you'll enjoy them as soon as you see them, good photos will mean even more years from now. it's cool to hear about the prep work from your side! and the dance video you posted couldn't be ANY cuter!! love that! warmly, -melanie-
that's a great story! it'll turn into a "classic mom" story! you should submit it to parenting magazine - every mom can relate.
Just the phrase "family pictures" makes me break into a cold sweat! I can definitely relate to your experience - does it ever get easier?
